The Danger of Not Knowing You Have an STD

The last thing you want to hear is that you have a sexually transmitted disease such as Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphilis, Crabs or Trichominosis. It’s embarrassing and it’s scary.  If you test positive, your gender, birth date and results will be reported to the State Health Department. It’s so embarrassing that maybe you don’t want to deal with it, so you postpone going to the doctor or getting tested to see if it gets any worse. Maybe it’s not really an STD at all and it will take care of itself if you give it a little time. So you put off getting tested.

Want to know what’s really scary? Leaving one of these STDs untreated. It can lead to very serious health problems that can cause permanent damage or be life-threatening:

  • Untreated STDs can damage reproductive organs and make both men and women sterile.
  • Untreated Chlamydia in men can cause your testicles to shrink and create pus-filled lesions in your scrotum, a condition called epididymitis.
  • Untreated Syphillis is very dangerous. It can make you blind, deaf or even crazy. And that’s the truth, it’s no wive’s tale.

It is possible to avoid the embarrassment and to get fast and accurate results without having to see a doctor face-to-face, although you have the option to speak with a doctor on the phone if your results are positive. You can have a truly anonymous test by following the instructions in our How-To Guide and nobody but you will ever know about the test or know what the results are. If the results are positive, you can approach the subject directly with your doctor, inform him or her what you have and get treatment.

NOT KNOWING IS STUPID AND DANGEROUS

It’s just plain stupid to walk around with an untreated sexually transmitted disease. You’re not only putting your own health at risk but you’re also endangering the health of your sexual partners. Today, you can get truly anonymous and private STD testing with fast, confidential results.
