If you’re at risk for HIV, find out your status! Not knowing you have HIV isn’t going to make the problem go away. In fact, it makes the treatment longer and more complex and it puts your sexual partners more at risk of contracting HIV from you. Recent studies have shown that:
- Temporary treatment with HIV drugs for recently-infected patients delayed the onset of the disease and the need for long-term antiviral treatment
- HIV+ patients on antiviral drugs are 96% less likely to transmit HIV to someone else as those not on the drugs
